The Walking Liberty Half Dollar is one of the most iconic and beautiful silver coins ever produced by the United States Mint. Struck from 1916 to 1947, it was designed by Adolph A. Weinman, and is widely regarded as a masterpiece of American coinage.

These Walking Liberty half dollar coins were minted by the U.S. Mint between 1916-1947 and contain 90% silver. The Walking Liberty design found on this coin is considered by many to be the best design in this history of American coinage. Since their mintage origin from a century ago these half dollars have massively exceeded their worth in terms of face value. Each coin weighs a total of 12.5 grams and has 0.3617 troy ounces of silver content.

Coin Highlights:

  • Contains approximately 7.15 oz actual Silver weight.
  • Coins are packaged in a tightly sealed roll or plastic tube.
  • Obverse: Adolph A. Weinmans classic design of Lady Liberty draped in an American flag, carrying branches of laurel and oak, symbolizing both civil and military glory.
  • Reverse: An eagle perched atop a rock, his wings spread in preparation for flight with United States of America above and the face value below.
  • All coins are dated 1916-1947.

Design Description

  • Obverse (Front):
Features Lady Liberty striding confidently toward the rising sun, draped in the American flag, with an outstretched arm and olive branches in hand. The word “LIBERTY” arches overhead, and “IN GOD WE TRUST” appears on the right.

  • Reverse (Back):
Depicts a majestic eagle perched on a mountain crag, wings partially spread, with a small pine sapling growing from the rock—symbolizing strength and resilience.

The U.S. Mint
The U.S. Mint has been the producer of some of the most iconic coins in U.S. history. The Walking Liberty Half Dollar series is another testament to the Mints craftsmanship, offering a timeless piece of American numismatic heritage.

【Historical and Cultural Value】

  • First issued in 1916, just before the United States entered World War I, it symbolizes peace and perseverance.
  • It spanned the Great Depression and World War II, witnessing national turmoil and revival;
  • It was last issued in 1947, marking the beginning of the post-war era.
  • It is the only half-dollar silver coin that spanned two world wars, and has extraordinary historical depth.
  • As the "P version" produced by the Philadelphia Mint, it is more representative and authoritative, and is the dual crystallization of the spirit of freedom and aesthetic craftsmanship. The symbolic meaning it carries has long surpassed gold and silver itself, and has become a symbol of the American spirit in the minds of collectors.
